Land-fill Site Operators |
The DPS Leachate Recycling system allows landfill operators to trap and recycle the noxious leachate fluids which emanate from their sites, greatly reducing the frequency of expensive tankering and disposal. This is done by a re-irrigation process which promotes environmentally-friendly evaporation of the fluids until their concentration of noxious chemicals reaches critical levels. Control Systems vary from one site to another. They may employ local controls or PLC operated systems which allow remote control of pumping stations via SCADA packages designed to each individual clients needs.
Drilling and Pumping Supplies was initially approached to design and install a leachate pumping system by a major civil engineering contractor for an expansion to an engineered Landfill Site at Seaforde, Co. Down, Northern Ireland.
After consultation with the main contractor and consultant our system was installed and successfully commissioned well within the time constraints. Subsequently DPS has worked with contractors on multiple sites all over Ireland, as well as acting as advisors to consultancy practises to enhance design and maintain functionality in a very harsh environment.
Our success in this venture is founded on our ability to discuss the customers' requirements and negotiate with consultants on the site. We can then achieve the most efficient and viable system available. This success has been recognised by some of the Major Consulting groups in Ireland and we continue to receive landfill site specifications from throughout Ireland and the UK mainland.
It is often perceived that pumps are not designed to operate in the landfill environment and that clients should accept that they will have to replace pumps on a regular basis. DPS can assure clients that this is certainly not the case and can provide references with multiple clients to show this. As always it is simply a matter of selecting the correct style of unit for each individual application. Material selection is very important.
